Elisha Woodson - Marva Collins Teacher of the Year

Our District Overall Teacher of the Year has spent 15 years in education, 11 of that as a teacher. Elisha Woodson began in an administrative capacity as a secretary, then worked as a materials coordinator, and she eventually transitioned to the classroom. She is a Team Lead for her collaborative team - which we love and shows her dedication and collaboration - but she also became involved in Speak Up Speak Out (SUSO) at AHS.

Many of our teachers are lifelong learners, and Ms. Woodson is no different. A big part of being a lifelong learner is adapting to what students need and how they learn. Ms. Woodson has a growth mindset but also has transformed her classroom to make sure her students have a growth mindset, too. By embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and instilling a growth mindset in her students, she’s witnessed remarkable progress both academically and emotionally. Check out Elisha receiving her award here!
