The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees recognized the third group of students named Bearcats of Character for the 2023-2024 school year on Monday night for the character trait creativity.
As a part of the district's character education program, called the Positivity Project or P2, the district each month recognizes the good character on display by the great students across all of Aledo ISD.
P2 says that someone displaying the character strength of CREATIVITY is full of intrinsic motivation - creativity is accomplished by using one’s talents and potential, and not by the desire to receive a reward. Creative people are often the best at coming up with many, many different ideas and pursue them with energy and enthusiasm not found in others. Creativity helps us solve seemingly impossible problems, create things we never knew we needed, and see the world in a whole new way.
Congratulations to the following students, Aledo ISD's November 2023 Bearcats of Character.
Aledo High School: Harrison Hobbs, 12th Grade
Harrison is very creative with the words he uses, such as jokes and in writing, and he loves to create things, such as legos and numerous 3D projects. Harrison is one of the most creative guys I’ve ever met. When in his sophomore year we had art class together, he always had an amazing perspective of art while also having an amazing finished product. I think that is just one of the many creative features that Harrison holds.
Aledo Learning Center: Cynthia Fricke, 11th Grade (not pictured)
Cynthia is very artsy and is often creating colorful pictures! She uses her art skills to help out the campus, such as writing welcome signs for Start with Hello!
Daniel Ninth Grade: Lillie Gideon, 9th Grade
Lillie is my classmate and always thinks out of the box when asked questions. She takes very unique approaches to challenging situations and handles them calmly.
Aledo Middle School: Alexis Haley, 8th Grade
Alexis did a really good job of bringing science to life this past month. In science we had to create a superhero from an element on the periodic table and Alexis did a wonderful job of creating her superhero. She has a eye for wonder and is very creative in how she brings it to life.
McAnally Middle School: Addisyn Hogue, 7th Grade
Addisyn went above and beyond during our recent myth project, demonstrating a remarkable level of ingenuity. Instead of opting for a conventional presentation, she chose to create a captivating book entirely on her own, even taking the time to bind it herself. Her dedication to the project, coupled with the originality of her work, was truly impressive and added a unique dimension to the assignment. It's a testament to her creative spirit and commitment to her studies, making her an inspiration to her peers and a joy to have in our classroom.
Annetta Elementary School: Jordan Sheehy, 4th Grade
Jordan's 4th grade teacher says, "Jordan is a very creative thinker! She brings others together at recess, by creating new games and dances that everyone can join in on together. Also, when she or others encounter a problem, she can find creative solutions, making the best out of any situation!"
Coder Elementary School: Amelia Hekele, 3rd Grade
Amelia is deserving of recognition for her commitment to creativity. She consistently opts for innovative approaches in her assignments, shares delightful projects and pictures, and infuses energy into the classroom with her dances and cheers. Amelia's imaginative spirit elevates the entire learning environment.
McCall Elementary School: Klaire Bennett, 5th Grade
Klaire exhibits the strength of creativity by taking the initiative to express herself in unique ways and show her passion of creating with her peers. After finishing an assignment, Klaire often asks to create something (a slideshow, a drawing, a poster/infographic, etc.) as an additional way to show and reflect her learning, and she is quick to invite others to collaborate with her. During free time, especially during indoor recess, I see Klaire writing and illustrating her own stories, creating little cartoon figures out of paper to share with her classmates, and covering every blank space on a paper with doodles.
Stuard Elementary School: Pinley James, 4th Grade
Pinley can create a universe out of what some would see as a stack of school supplies and makes her wonders so fabulous that others want to be a part of her imagined universe. When others see gray, Pinley sees vivid color. She turns the ordinary into extraordinary. Pinley embodies J.K. Rowling's quote, '"Always have a vivid imagination. For you never know when you might need it." We are very blessed to have her creativity inspire us.- 4th grade teachers.
Vandagriff Elementary School: Joey Carey, 5th Grade
Joey shows creativity by thinking outside of box when it comes to generating ideas for discussion about reading/writing, math, and science. Joey also a unique skill for coming up with his own unique and innovative ideas for his artwork and shows creativity in his time during music class and while participating in choir. His creativity inspires others to use their own imagination.
Walsh Elementary School: Summer Phelps, 4th Grade
Summer demonstrates exceptional creativity, original thought, innovation, and showcases the importance of thinking outside the box as a vital component of personal and academic growth. She came up with a recycle project and got so many students involved. She has now collected over 300 water bottles in class and is donating them to a museum so they can make a water bottle sculpture. Whether it's in the realm of art, math, literature, or science, she inspires her peers and educators alike with their ability to transform ordinary ideas into extraordinary creations.
