Mrs. Sarah Montes
Howdy! My name is Sarah Montes. This is my tenth year in education and my third year working as a dyslexia teacher. I am part of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2011, whoop! I graduated from Texas A&M as a Distinguished Honor Graduate at the top of my class in the College of Education and Human Development. I worked in Bryan ISD for four years as a first and second grade teacher. I also worked in Northwest ISD for five years as a first and second grade teacher. I was named the Exemplar Educator in 2016 at Lakeview Elementary in Trophy Club, Texas. I then continued on with my passion to develop growing readers as I helped to open Lizzie Curtis Elementary in Northwest ISD. I worked as an Intervention Specialist for two years meeting the needs of our dyslexic population, our ESL population, and I also provided Tier 3 interventions for our most struggling students.
I feel very blessed to be part of such an amazing team of educators who love and truly care about children here in Aledo ISD. I have a passion to help children that struggle to read, as I have family members who dealt with these same struggles. I can relate to the kids that I teach daily and empathize with the difficulties they may face while reading. It is my goal to help every child who walks through my door to become a lifelong learner and to enjoy the beauty of reading.
In addition to my professional life, I have been happily married for 4 years to my husband David. We have two children, Lincoln (3) and Liberty (1). In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, listening to audiobooks, exercising, and playing with my five sweet doggies.
I am very excited to be teaching MTA this year. I can't wait to see your child grow and help them along in their journey of reading and writing. Thank you for having me as part of your Coder Cat Family. Please feel free to contact me anytime smontes@aledoisd.org. Thank you!
